As many of you know, I posted a blog asking, what the heck is up at eROI? Well, my two weeks at eROI are now over, and I still have not reached any solid conclusions. However, I did document what I found:
Here is the first sighting in Dylan’s office:

On the upper ledge on the landing to go downstaires:

On the ledge right before going downstaires:
Right inside of the front doors:

I first saw the army guys in Dylan’s office, but then they started popping up everywhere!! Stairwells, counters, ledges etc. I tried to figure out why these guys were around…decorations? ambiance? Dylan’s sneaky and subtle attempt to take over the office (kidding!)? Hmmm I’m still not sure, buy after while I felt like I was on a constant easter egg hunt looking for these little guys around the office!
Ideas, anyone? Answers? Explanations?

it’s probably like toy story and they use the army men to tell when people are coming, like when the interns are walking up the stairs so they know to act busy
Well I am glad that you caught on to my little WAR. I have been secretly waging a war on the drug dealers in Old Town by deploying troops not only around our office, but also in a 6 block radius around Old Town. They are on the outsides of the buildings, in the trees, on lamp posts and ledges around the perimeter. Makes people stop and think about why we would need soldiers around the area and more importantly makes the dealers in the area stop and think.
What has been fun is making this into a social experiment with seeing HOW people react to finding these. There have been blog posts in PDX about them and even others from eROI have taken it upon themselves to deploy troops from my office. Next time you stop in, grab some and take them out into the world and find some good spots for them. They make you stop and think. Worked on you, PLUS you know me know and know that I am always trying to see what works in the real world and online world to grab attention of people for campaigns we launch.
What is next? Keep you eyes peeled.
Brilliant. I am for sure A. Going to take a trip around the neighborhood and see what I can find and B. Stopping by and deploying my own troops into the streets…
Great experiment…
They’re just protecting themselves!
Dylan,
Good point. Thankfully we have the assistance of both @sharki and @portlandpolice in that battle
