As I’ve been practicing for the upcoming wedding and getting back into the swing of things in terms of music, I’m come to realize that I don’t have much documentation of my musical journey, unless you count high-8 videos…

At first I was a little dissapointed…then I thought it might actually be a blessing in disguse.  I will be the first to say that the beginning years in a violinists life are the dark years that should not be talked about or remembered, much less documented.

On that note, major kudos to my parents for being such good sports and tolerating all the sqeeks and horrible noises that come from an inexperienced violinist!

The point is, after 15 years of playing (MAN I feel so freaking old when I say that…) I want some documentation which means…I’m making a CD!  Now when I say this, by no means so I mean a CD to market…no thanks, that’s not my purpose and doesn’t sound appealing in any way shape or form.  However, it would be fun!  something to work towards…an excuse to play more…and something I’ve never done (unless you could the CD’s we made at Sprague!!)

Here are my initial thoughts…lots and lots of options and decisions, but for the meantime…

Quartet:
▪    Quartet No. 14, Mozart
▪    Bachianas
▪    Holst, 4th mvt.
▪    Clair de Lune

Violin duo with Steven:
▪    Bach double (mvts?)

Violin + Viola w/ Meaghan:
▪       Sight read through a bunch yesterday, still deciding…

Violin + Guitar:
▪      Not sure as of now – I’ve got the music, haven’t played w/ a guitarist yet – I’d love to try though!

Violin + piano (some w/ Mom and some w/ Tia)
▪    Salut d’amor, Elgar
▪    Medetation, Thais
▪    The Girl with the Flaxen Hair, Debussy
▪    Preludium & Allegro, Kreisler
▪    Concerto in A Minor, Vivaldi

Piano solo? (still not sure how I feel about this…)
▪    something from Putnam
▪    Invention No. 8, Bach
▪    Moonlight Sonata (so overplayed, but so beautiful)

Yup, so that’s that!  I gave myself a year…ample time, yes?
