When I think of TV commercials that advertise universities, I think of examples such as the following:
Impersonal. Generic. Uninspiring. Agreed? Good.
This morning I was doing some work on my computer and had the TV on in the background. I rarely look up for whatever show is on much less to watch a commerical. HOWEVER, not today. The following commercial caught my eye and held my attention:
So…#1…good job Kaplan University. I’m not sure that any of what the commercial said was true; however, the point is, it caught my attention. It adressed the wants, needs and feelings of many people my age. I certainly think the strategy piggybacked the timing of the Obama craze; however…why wouldn’t you? No need to reinvent the wheel if it’s working. Unlike the first commercial, the Kaplan commercial was also set in a classroom setting which made it quite a bit more personal and simple for me to envision myself in that situation, rather than having various career-representing hats spin around in circles. I like it.
I WANT TO GO TO THERE.
Was that Uncle Phil preaching to the students?!? Crazy. Will Smith should help a brother out.
But seriously, nice find.
