A core value I learned from the music program was the ideal that everything I do, music related or not, must be because I am passionate – never NEVER for the glory and/or recognition. My high school musical groups were all extremely competitive, but that certainly wasn’t our primary motive. If you will…competition was a side dish to our main course of passion. …yup…i went there. (=
HOWEVER, with this said…we were also taught: if you are going to compete, compete to win. If someone needs to be best or take 1st place, why not you?? Make sense, right? The point is, we consistently played well and grew the program because we had game faces on, but never lost sight of our core purpose.
