I really do love how music is getting back to being a daily part of my life. It certainly was all throughout high school but in college, there really was no time. I’m thankful to be a a place where A: I have the time to get back into music and B. that is so freaking music-center. Yay for Austin. (=

So I started messing around with Garageband this weekend. Freaking obsessed now.

Here’s a link to the two projects I recorded yesterday. Click it! The first song is good old fashioned heart and soul. I started with this because I was messing around with learning how to do layers. As you can hear, I’m still working on this. (; However, it’s amazing how once you know one program, skills just start to overlap and really lower the learning curve. I’ve def. found a ton of similarities between Flash, iMovie, Final Cut, and now Garage Band. love it.

Ummm…digressing.

So the first song is Heart and Soul. Perfect to experiment with layering. I’ve never played the left and right hand separate so it’s a work in progress. But listen to the whole thing…I had some fun with Heart + Soul…jazzed it up a bit, tried some improv. and variations on the main theme. Woot. (=

The second song is the very beginning of an accompaniment I am recording. Since my ‘piano slave’ aka my wonderful mother lives in Oregon and me in Austin, I no longer have someone to play with…but I want that! So, an easy solution is recording the accompaniment myself for the time being!

…and p.s. Yes, I am well aware that the metronome is in the post. And yes, I’m also aware there is alot to fix. …and yes, I still have many more pages to finish up as the song I’m learning is a concerto, BUT patience grasshopper…good things come to those who wait. (I hope, anyway! (; )

So yes, click the linkDo it. Right now. Take a listen. Enjoy (=
