Went to Houston this weekend to visit family. I feel so lucky I finally live close to them – love love love love love that I finally get to see them and we get to spend time together!
Heading out 290. Pre-torrential rainstorm.
HMMMMM that sure looks healthy!
From this point on, I hydroplaned all the way to my family’s house.
The next day was beautiful (= I often forget to almost tropical climate Houston sometimes has…I mean it IS only an hour from the gulf of Mexico so that makes sense…but being an Oregonian…I guess I automatically think of freezing cold temperatures and horrible weather when I think of the beach.
Oh. And I also felt like I was in a terrarium this weekend. Hello humidity!
I feel like to fairly judge a restaurant, you always need to try the staple first. So, we went to a Greek restaurant – Niko Nikos…I had to get the gyro. YUM!!!!! So freaking good. I give this one an 8 of 10. (=
I realize that many of you do not know what Houston looks like. So I took a few pictures. Now as this is a city of 5 million (or whatever google million billion people there are), this is only a small snapshot…so don’t judge completely. But just see this as a very small taste.
Here are some of the sky scrapers:
And here is a 12 LANE HIGHWAY!!! Yup, you heard me right, 6 in either direction. Glad I don’t have to negotiate that during rush hour!
Ah. And then I finally made it back to Austin. After 3 hours in the car, it was time for a walk. Look at this BEAUTIFUL sunset!
Oh and don’t worry…I turned around on the bridge and what did I see? Oh just a girl practicing her tight-walking skillz. Ah. Love Austin. Love it love it love it.
At the foot of this bridge was some sideway chalk art. Man, I want to play with sideway chalk…
And then check this out. Could anyone ask for a more tranquil Sunday evening?
