I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned my love for the live music scene here in Austin, so it’s probably about time I start. (;
I have an Oregon visitor in town this week (23rd Oregon visitor since I came 11 months ago!) so I thought I’d show her one of my favorite Austin bars – the Johnny Cash themed bar, “The Mean Eyed Cat.” Freaking love this place, AND they had live music that night!
One of my other favorite venues in town is down on Congress – it’s called The Continental Club. The other night I went there to check out Ephraim Owens – a super talented jazz musician I was introduced to by my friend Dave last December. So so so good:

I love this type of music – jazz has always been one of my favorite. Waaaay back when in 7th and 8th grade I was in jazz choir – we met an hour before school started every day and went to all sorts of festival around the NW. I love the genre and storytelling behind it. As you might also know, I tapped (…taken tap dance) for about 4 years during college and anyway, many of same ideas in tap (improvisation, for example) is the same in jazz music. Freaking love it. …and that reminds me, I need to start tapping here in Austin – I miss it!
